What are the different types of salmon in Alaska? Is there more than one? Within the southwest exhibit, wildlife like the sea otter, ancient murelet, tufted puffin, and common mure are on display. The southwest is also home to Katmai National Park which surrounds preserves like Brooks Camp and McNeil River State Game Refuge. These two areas are excellent for viewing live brown bears. The southwest also includes many islands along the Aleutian Chian, which ends with the island Attu. This exhibit also includes information on Russian Alaska and Russian artifacts. The video exhibit includes short films such as Island Rookery, Katmai Eruption, The Great Fishery, Muskox from Nunivak, and Wildlands: Ring of Fire. Head on over if you enjoy learning about silver, chum, king, pink, or red salmon!
