Hours for the Anchorage Alaska Center

Winter Hours: After October 1st
Monday - Friday: 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Closed on all federal holidays

Summer Hours: May 21st-September 9th
Open all days of the week, including holidays: 9:00a.m.-5:00p.m.

The Captain Cook Walking Tour
Beginning June 6th: 11:00 a.m. & 2:30 p.m.
- Join one of our Park Rangers on a 45 minute walking tour of downtown Anchorage. Learn about Captain Cook's voyage in search of the elusive Northwest Passage and other aspects of Alaska's natural and cultural history.
- The tour starts outside, in front of the Anchorage Alaska Public Lands Information Center.
- Scheduled tours end September 9th, but call to request one at (907) 644-3661.

Summer Special Live Programs
Daily beginning in June at 2:00pm are programs with local authors, photographers, professors, biologists, and park rangers. 

- Mondays: Gold! Gold! Gold! - Alaska Gold Rush
- Tuesdays: Aurora Borealis
- Wednesdays: Gold! Gold! Gold! - Alaska Gold Rush
- Thursdays: Zoo Animal Visit
- Fridays: Denali Mountain Program
- Saturdays: Live Bird demonstration with the Anchorage Bird Treatment and Learning Center
- Sundays: America's Wildest Refuge Film

Kids love the Alaskan animal scavenger hunt!

Summer Education Programs
There are a number of fun and engaging programs being offered for kids of all ages this summer. The Alaska Public Lands Information Center in Anchorage offers:

  • Scavenger hunts for all ages
  • A kids booth once a week
  • Two live animal programs at 2pm
  • The film Alaska's Coolest Animals is a great movie geared towards kids that happens twice a day
