A Day in Sitka

A visit to this former capital of Alaska allows for a jam-packed day of history, hiking, and culture. Visit the Sitka National Historical Park to explore the museum and visit with a local artisan inside the Cultural Center. Afterwards, walk among the totem poles and listen to the eagles screeching through the rainforest. Stop by the shore at low-tide to explore the tidepools and the treasures they hold. For another dose of history, stop into the Russian Bishop’s House for a Ranger-led tour or hike one of the many trails in the Tongass National Forest right in town.
