Explore the Nabesna Road

Trees with fall foliage, river flowing through, mountains in background.

Pick up a free audio tour at the Slana Ranger Station and drive the unpaved 42 mile long Nabesna Road. Opportunities abound for hiking and wildlife viewing. Numerous free campgrounds are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Be aware that after mile 29.8, there are three areas of creek crossings that may flood the road during periods of heavy rainfall or spring runoff. Plan accordingly, as these sections can become impassible, sometimes without warning. Find out more in the downloadable NPS Wrangell-St. Elias National Park Nabesna Road Guide.
